Clifford House is a private home Bed and Breakfast in historic Ohio City.
Our uniquely eclectic, formal and charming home, built in 1868 as a square Tuscany Style, was expanded in 1890 to its present Queen Anne size. The home has always been one of the notable architectural anchors of the neighborhood, often referred to as "THE Brick House" of Ohio City.
"Jim, the owner of Clifford House, knows how to make people feel invited and is a great breakfast cook. He is also very knowledgeable of the area. His two animals are awesome. The parking was also quite easy. A great stay."
"Beautiful weekend getaway with my high school friend. Awesome location, great food, great host and most of all free to come and go as we wished. Jim has a lot to offer at his B and B...very nice location, very knowledgeable about the area."
"Great location- Jim, the owner, is warm, friendly, and funny! He knows Cleveland and he knows the history of the neighborhood. The house is beautiful. Breakfast was fantastic, the bed was comfy, and it could not have been a better experience. The house is great for couples, friends, families. We will be back."
"This was by far my favorite stay in Cleveland. Had I planned better (known better) we would have forgone the fancy downtown hotel. Ohio city is an awesome neighborhood. Jim is a perfect host - good cook, welcoming and a sense of humor. No, this house isn't perfect. But it is an amazing work in progress."
"My sweetie and I are making it our mission to visit a many b&bs as we can, and I'm so happy we got to stay at Clifford House! Jim, our fabulous innkeeper, was a delight. :) His charming home (and adorable house-pets Sherlock and Wesley) were exactly what we were looking for."
"My wife and I just stayed at the Clifford House and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Jim was a welcoming host and terrific. The food he made for breakfast each day was delicious! We especially loved the breakfast for our second day: spinach quiche, fresh fruit, homemade chocolate chip and walnut pancakes with juice, and coffee."
"My daughter and I stayed one night. We found the neighborhood to be charming and excellent in terms of close restaurants and the old market. Jim, the host, is very knowledgable about the area and told us all the good places to go. Breakfast was delicious"
"Clifford House was such a great value the first time around, I decided to come back next time I was in town. On this visit I stayed in the attached apartment instead of just a room upstairs - it is WELL WORTH IT. Huge, private accommodations, yet still having the convenience of the b&b."
"We were trying to drive back to Michigan from Pennsylvania and we needed to stop. We decided on the spur to check if any B&B's were close and actually called Jim to inquire on a room while we right in front of his place. We were welcomed and really felt like we were visiting family."
"This private home in Ohio City, Ohio epitomizes the original bed and breakfasts of Europe. A private home for owner and host James Miner and his fibroids, Sherlock the hound dog and Wesley the cat, you feel like family and are immediately welcomed home."
